Conflict heterogeneity in Africa

The economic development literature widely concurs that conflicts have adverse consequences contribute to poverty, disinvestment and lower human capital leading widespread inequality growth. As such, understanding the nature of conflict has been an important focus for political leaders, policymakers researchers alike. However, existing does not typically distinguish between effects determinants on by type actor or aggressor (i.e. state, group civilian-based). Using panel data analysis 46 African countries from 1997 2017, a comprehensive geo-referenced Armed Conflict Location Event Data (ACLED) dataset, we find evidence variation in determinants' types. For full sample countries, military expenditure decreases civilian-based conflicts; globalisation increases both state- while state fragility group-based conflicts. On other hand, income per capita all three types At regional level, little across regions. findings highlight nuances their causes which need be accounted when formulating resolution policies.

Mycobacterium ulcerans causes Buruli ulcer, an ulcerative skin disease in tropical and subtropical areas.
